FF1600 Foundation Proposal

Proposal by John Nichols winner of Autosport London Grand Prix Competition

Fund of 1.000.000 euros invested in stock market shares with a high yielding dividend via a tax efficient company. Ideally if and when the Foundation is wound up the capital can be returned free of tax to the person(s) that formed this charity. The dividends would be used as a yearly prize fund.


If it is a company then the Championship can be named after that company with decals on the FF1600 entrants

Annual first prize - Brand new Formula Ford 1600 chassis by Ray Medina or Swift
Possibly second prize - New BRE or Bold FF1600 engine
Other prizes - Entry to both the Formula Ford Festival (Brands Hatch October) and the Walter Hayes Trophy (Silverstone November) + ferry crossing and fuel allowance for the next top 5 finishers./ Pre 1999 chassis FF1600 first prize 2 sets of FF1600 tyres 
If sufficient funds available cash prizes to other entrants

These Formula FF1600´s would have to bear a decal #FFA @itcracing* - RACING FOR SPAIN (Spanish License holders) or RACING FOR PORTUGAL (Portuguese License holders) * if itc racing funds the whole foundation

If JohnNichols organizes this all his expenses will be paid. If Terry Bates is involved he will be paid a fee and all expenses - A FF1600 will be taken to all the races qualifying for this Championship to show the entrants what they can win. These costs will be covered by the Foundation. Ideally all cars will be equipped with cameras GoProHero8 and live-streaming will be broadcast on Facebook and Youtube, possibly Television Antena 3 Mediasat or.... - Requirement a grid of 10 FF1600 + cars

18 races on 6 circuits (one at Portimao* with agreement by organzier of Single Seater series) the best 15 being used to deterime the Championship.

*Alternatively Circuito Málaga (if built) organized as a European FF1600 Festival

If a company/companies wish to participate they could transfer shares to the project (which could possibly be returned to them after 5/10 years if legally possible) In this case the Championship would bear their name and their decals would be displayed by all Entrants. i.e REPSOL Campeonato Andaluz de Fórmula Ford 1600. an indivual motorsport philanthropist could also participate with the proposed championship bearing his name. NOTE A SPANISH BANK IN PRINCIPLE HAS AGREED TO PROVIDE LOANS OR LEASING ON NEW FF1600 CARS TO QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS OR ENTITIES (Contact details will be given to bonafide entities)

To keep costs to a minimum Adrian Osuna has suggested that only Spanish; Portuguese and Foreign drivers with residence in Spain can enter; to have it open to other drivers would double the entry cost. The object is to allow young Iberian Talent to reach Formula 1 like Marc Gené and Pedro Martines de la Rosa have done in the past thanks to their talent and having raced in FF1600 here in Spain.

It would be a good idea if the Andalucian Tourist Board could arrange for the nearest town to each circuit to offer a prize to the top 3 of each race a weeks holiday in a 4 or 5 Star Hotel and a 10% discount to all other entrants

Note an alternative to start money would be to pay teams/drivers transport fuel to and from circuit (via vouchers) and to provide teams/drivers with fuel and oil at the circuit

Ps Drivex owner Miguel Angel de Castro has expressed an interest to enter this Championship and we will invite all Spanish F4 teams to enter a “junior team” to participate. This could also be considered; the 10 young drivers for the new FF1600's could have a short course with Danmor Racing at Ascari where the instructors are friends of mine Roger and Lars; Roger and I racing for several years in the Spanish Formula Ford 1600 Championships (1986-1993)

    1 - 10 new Formula Ford Chassis available for lease
    2 - Engines (new or second hand) to be purchased by the teams/drivers
    3 - If chassis leased they must be insured by the team/driver
    4 - Ideally Preparation; transport and attendance at the circuit available to teams & drivers
    5 - Ideally an Energy Company supplies the fuel to and from the circuit(s) together with the fuel and oil for racing
    6 - A youtube channel for the live streaming and coverage of teams and drivers

Alternative initially starting in 2 European countries namely France and Spain offering prizes of:1st new rolling chassis (2) 2nd new BOLD prepared engine (2) 3rd Three of four sets of tyres (2). A Federation or circuit would have to organize the Championship of 7 or 8 race meetings with 2 races at each. A private individual might like to donate a second hand FF1600 to the winner (under 18) of a Kart Championship in each country under the condition that the donor´s name is displayed on the FF1600 for 5 years.
